Cassandre’s Maternity Milk Bath

Milk Bath Photo Shoot by Lynn Pierce Photography

When Cassandre approached me about doing her maternity pictures, I was more than happy to accept. She is pregnant with her first child, a baby girl, due the end of February, 2019. Her husband, Gregory, is in the US Marine Corp and stationed in Jacksonville, at Camp Lejeune.

The more I thought about her shoot, the more I wanted to do something a little different.

I asked her how she would feel about also doing a milk bath shoot, in addition to her regular maternity shoot. She was thrilled with the idea, so I got those creative juices flowing! I did a lot of research about how to get the water just right, what kind of flowers to use, what to have her wear, and the best time for lighting in my bathroom. I gathered all my information and we set a date!

The day of the shoot, my eyes popped open at 8AM. I was so excited, I couldn’t sleep! I had talked with the florist, Heather, at the Harris Teeter in Surf City and when I arrived, she let me go through and choose from her greenery and flowers. Cassandre and I had decided to go with whites, pinks and some different pieces of greenery. I selected some white Gerber Daisy’s with pink centers, pink carnations, White spider mums, pink roses and baby roses. Heather put together a crown of baby’s-breath and pink mini roses. She did a beautiful job with it. She also gave me some smaller flowers and some greenery to cut up.

When I got home I started prepping the flowers. For the larger ones, I cut some bubble wrap in to small circles and popped the stem through to help them stay floating and level. I pulled some of the smaller flowers apart and used the petals to sprinkle in the bath, cut some of the greenery up and pulled apart some leaves. I purchased some artificial flowers and greenery to make little arrangements to go on the side of the tub, out of the water. I put those together and was very happy with how the turned out.

Once Cassandre arrived, I started the water for the bath. When it got to the desired level, I added the milk and swirled it around. I had to add a little more milk to get it to the color I wanted. Cassandre got in and we started posing her. Once I got her positioned, I added the flowers and started clicking away. I had to get in some weird positions to get different angles, but it was so worth it!

This milk bath photo session was by far one of my favorite shoots!

I’m so happy she trusted me with my vision. She was over the moon, with the results!

Kita Family of 8 in Downtown Wilmington

On a beautiful afternoon in June, the Kita Family and I set off to Downtown Wilmington for a full on photoshoot.

They have two parents and SIX kids!

I did some looking around at local spots that would be able to accommodate such a large bunch and still get good scenery for pictures.

We stated off at the Riverfront where we got some with the C.F. Memorial Bridge in the background.

Then we flipped around and got some in front of the courthouse fountain, on the steps and in a really nice doorway on the side of the Court House.  I got them to stand out in the middle of Front Street and hold hands. We ventured over to Embassy Suits to this awesome stone wall located out front.

The perfect wall for getting the kids to line up, tallest to shortest.

They were a lot of fun to photograph and very photogenic!
